ALL LOCAL UNIONS
SYSTEM COUNCIL
NO. 2
Dear Sisters and Brothers:
I met with CMO Barry Kanuch on April 6, 2006, and the
Timekeeping Department and Dan Moresette concerning the dues
deduction. I have been advised that it will be in the
near future before they can make deposits for each and every
Local Union; however, all Local Unions have not requested to
do their union business electronically and by e-mail so that
should not be too much of a problem. For the Local
Unions that have submitted their e-mail addresses, they will
now be able to fill out their A,B&C forms for new hires,
terminations, transfers, etc., online rather than by paper.
I visited the Shops at Kansas City, Missouri, on April 25, 2006, and met
with the Local Union officers. On April 26, 2006, I met with
Labor Relations Manager Jim Albana, KCS, concerning back pay
for Communication worker George Fletcher and discussed other
outstanding issues.
The Coalition and the Carrier will be meeting on May 9 and 10, 2006, to
discuss our National Wage Negotiations.
The political committee of the Local Unions should be actively involved
in getting people in office that will help Labor and those
opposed to Labor out. Again, I request that the Local
Unions actively embark on a campaign to have COPE withdrawn
from their paychecks.
Pervis Miller, former Plant Manager on the Union Pacific, is now working
for the KCS as a Plant Manager at Shreveport, Louisiana.
I encourage all Local Unions to hold their elections to properly elect
their delegates for the upcoming International Convention to
be held in Cleveland, Ohio.
Please find attached letter from Carrier notifying of the continuance of
the temporary assignment of electricians at the Roseville
Shop dated April 18, 2006, as set forth in the original
agreement. However, after talking with John Esses, he
gave us his gracious thanks and appreciation for the
assistance and now that they have hired approximately sixty
(60) employees at Roseville, he feels there will no longer
be a need to continue the Agreement.
