ALL LOCAL UNIONS
SYSTEM COUNCIL NO. 2
Dear Sisters and Brothers:
On the date of November 8, 2005, I attended a SACP meeting on
behalf of Assistant General Chairman Don Tortorice who was ill
the day prior. Don was able to attend on November 9, 2005.
On November 8 , 2005, Assistant General Chairman Jim Wisniski
handled outstanding claims for his area.
On November 9, 2005, I met with the Carrier concerning four (4)
proposed Agreements. We discussed the (1) an Apprentice
Agreement, (2) Instructors Agreement, and we agreed to
meet again. Thirdly, an Agreement for “Second week
one-day-at-a-time, for a period of two years was unacceptable to
your representative on account of the Organization being forced
to sign a “test-at-will” drug program that would go on forever
and ever versus a temporary Agreement for two (2) years.
And fourth, proposed Agreement was a win-win situation for both
the Carrier and the Organization which your representative
signed and the Financial Secretaries will be allowed to handle
their Forms A, B and C online and also the Carrier will make
electronic deposits into the proper account identified by
the Local Union.
Effective December 1, 2005, Assistant General Chairman Don
Tortorice has come on staff full time replacing Bob Ramirez who
retired.
The Southern Pacific Western region, including Tucson, Arizona,
and El Paso, Texas, has become part of his territory now instead
of Assistant General Chairman Jim Wisniski’s. Since Don
Tortorice is in the process of moving, as soon as his office
telephone numbers, and other pertinent information becomes
available, they will be sent out to everyone. Currently,
any correspondence should be sent to his mailing address of:
330 31st Street, Hermosa Beach, CA 90254. In case of
an emergency, you can reach Don on his cell phone which is
310-227-9398.
